The Point, Emerald Isle - North Carolina

I’ve been wanting to capture the point in a cinematic way for awhile but just have not made the time to do it. I haven’t created any videos for a while just to create them for me. It’s not that I don’t think about creating them, my notebook is full of ideas and I am constantly thinking about ideas but executing them has not been happening which has been bumming me out because I really enjoy making videos. It’s the first time in my life I would ever describe myself as creative.

The weather was half decent on Monday so I took the jeep out to the beach and decided to just start shooting. I had this idea of opening up with a shot of the sky and then a top down shot of me laying in the sand looking up at the sky. To be honest as I am typing this I can’t remember why I didn’t make that happen. I probably just got self conscious about people being around. One day I will learn not to care as much. There were actually a lot of shots I wanted to get but they just did not happen but instead of waiting till the day I make them happen I decided to just work with what I had.

I do like how the video turned out. I have been trying to focus more on sound design in the edit and when I am filming. I realized how important it is to really bringing the viewer in. That point when you just lose yourself in what you are watching. I am not sure if I accomplished that but that is what I was going for. I could not use any recorded sound because of wind noise so everything was added in post. The birds feet in the sand, that audio I recorded of my feet in the sand and I just increased the speed by about %250 and messed with EQ. I think it fits well and I felt pretty clever if I may say so myself.

I don’t really know why I am writing all of this. I guess just to tell someone that chooses to see and read it rather then rambling on to people about it that just happen to be in a close vicinity. Which I find myself doing. Those poor people.

Thanks,

Taylor
